Non-Format - Stephen Gill ~ Movement of Shapes and Form

http://non-format.com/stephen-gill

Again I love the breakdown of a structure into separate elements and the way that it moves across the page. It really inspires me to create a moving graphic in later stages of my work.

Phoenecia - Good Man Bones ~ A Moving Graphic

I love the transition from each design and the way the the video breaks each element in to separate shapes and forms. I am considering using this as an inspiration for later work.

Plonked Spectral Video - RiSP-CD ~ Structure and Form

I love the shape and form used in this video, the pattern and construct really inspire me to make use of pattern and structure throughout my project and show the potential of where the project could go.

DEFORM 4 - Kero ~ The City in Sillhouette

DEFORM 4 from kero on Vimeo.

The designs in this video are separated into different elements, which once combined, provide the final structure. Many of the elements of the video focus on things that we may experience in the city such as vehicles, machinery, etc. and these are presented through silhouettes and type.

I really like this style as it focuses on the simplest of things and breaks them down into geometrical shapes.  By doing this it allows the viewer to experience the many different elements of its construct and design through basic form and principle.

Process and Production ~ Working in Photoshop

Initially we were presented with a series of images, these images are pictured below. Due to the quality of the document provided however they are not the best pictures. Obviously the picture contains four seperate elements which we were expected to then combine using various methods in photoshop.

To begin with we placed the screw onto the larger image of the bulb, to do this we used the transform tool and rescaled, rotated and edited the image so that the angle and proportions were correct. We then used the patch up tool to remove any of the contents of the bulb. We also used layer mask to remove any distractions in the background of the image.
After that we added the twig and the leaves of the tree using various combinations of layer mask, transform, clone stamp and correctional tools. Finally we edited the hue an saturation of the leaves and also incorporated some reflections to allow the image to look more realistic.

Below I have included my finished image after the process had taken place, I feel that the result is successful and the reflections appear to match accurately to the rest of the image and allow it to appear quite realistic overall. Unfortunately, due to the layer masking that was used, the background of the image was effected as it was not a true white colour, this is evident down the right hand side of the image and if I were to do this again I would amend this in future practise.

Annie Hall - Random Paraphilia ~ An Interesting Visual By Dmas2

I explored the Dmas3 page and discovered another video which was made for the same group, however this one was created by Rodríguez yet still reflected the same style as the other video I had found. Again the movement and visuals reflect the sounds made in the video.

Valentín Rodríguez ~ An Extract From My Sketchbook

I noticed that a lot of the work on Detroit referenced a page called dmas3 which turned out to be the website of graphic designer Valentín Rodríguez who is a “multidisciplinary Graphic Designer... Working as freelance doing Animation works, web, 3D computer design and 2D illustration (logos, Flyers, covers...)” working in collaboration with the electronical music label, Detroit underground “doing covers for vinyls, illustration and logos.”
